Life is good
The past month has flown by. Babes is a kick ass baby that tries to make all other babies look evil. She fusses a bit, but overall is a mellow girl.
We are moving into our house this weekend. Yes, this weekend. The outside has a little more work to be done... but we can move in. Did you hear that? WE ARE MOVING IN!!
I have two more months of leave. We are moving into our house that has been over a year in the making. J and I have never been happier together, and we have the most beautiful baby girl to match our most handsome boy. Life is good.
A week in review
A week ago yesterday, my contractions started around 4 pm. At first they were 8 minutes apart and I figured this may be the start of something (finally), but I wasn't going to get myself to excited. I told J to leave work by 5, that I thought maybe this would be the evening... that he needed to grab Dude from school. Talked to my parents and a couple people to tell them to be on alert.
So I decided to keep my mind off of the pain, and take a warm shower, shave my legs, wash hair, and relax. After that I blew my hair dry, flat ironed it, and then started to retime my contractions. By 5 pm they were 3-5 minutes apart. OK, this is it.
I got on the computer and saw the J was still online at 5:01 pm. I told him to get his ass out of work and get Dude... Babes was finally on the way. When he finally made it home I was having strong contraction 3 minutes apart. Hospital was called and we were told to get our buts in there.
Got to hospital around 6:30 or so, and made our way up to triage. I was checked for dilation and was found to be at 7cm. We were introduced to our Labor and Delivery nurse and we were whisked off to our room.
The rest of the evening went by really fast. With friends and family at the hospital, a wonderful epidural, I was ready to push by 9pm. All the while J keeping other family/friends informed on IM the play by play. With J, mom, and three friends in the room our gorgeous baby girl was born at 9:18 pm January 24th 2008. She has a little bit of brown hair, weighed 8 lbs 5 oz and is 21 inches long. Pictures were put up on facebook for our friends to see seconds after being taken.
Dude was excited to finally meet Babes... and was not at all surprised that Babes turned out to be a girl. He has been such a wonderful, caring, loving big brother. I couldn't have asked for such a good transition into our new family.
Babes is perfect. She isn't too fussy, eats and sleeps well, and is overall a great baby. We are home spending time together getting to know one another. As Dude put it, we are enjoying our "perfect family".
